Beehive Field Recordings

We’ve always been inspired by the Lomax era of field-recordings when folklorists and recordists traveled the country making recordings in hotel rooms and warehouses, and in the homes of many rural musicians.  We too have traveled extensively throughout the eastern U.S. and Canada, making videos that capture the creative character of acoustic and roots musicians live, in non-studio locations. Below are some of our favorites.

FOLK ALLEY SESSIONS

We began filming sessions for FolkAlley.com in 2013 and have captured almost 500 videos for them in that 10-year span. Visit the Folk Alley YouTube channel for the entire collection.

FLOYDFEST BUS STOP

The Bus Stop Sessions are a collaboration with live-event producers Across-The-Way Productions. In a pop-up recording/video studio located on the FloydFest site, we capture acoustic performers and bands from FloydFest’s “On-the-Rise Competition” to main stage acts in an intimate and unique setting: the back of a psychedelic-painted school bus. We have been capturing these sessions since 2019.
